Carbohydrate, fats and protein are the three main energy fuels for exercise. The preferred energy fuel for muscles is glucose which is formed from the breakdown of carbohydrates in the diet and is stored in the muscles and liver. Way Low Glycaemic Index
The Glycaemic Index (GI) sounds complicated, but it's actually a very simple measure of how quickly foods are used by your pet's body.
It's all to do with the speed at which different types of carbohydrates (energy-giving foods) are broken down into the glucose and insulin that power your pet. The faster a food breaks down into energy, the higher its Gi rating.
High-Gi foods deliver instant bursts of fast-burning energy, whereas low and medium-Gi foods are absorbed into the bloodstream more slowly and make your pet feel fuller for longer.
This means that your dog has higher energy throughout the day, not just after a meal.
Eating more of the lower-Gi foods, such as Wilson's, will help to control weight and make your pet feel more satisfied after a meal.
